New Teacher Academy
The LRC-South New Teacher Academy Professional Learning Community (PLC) provides high-quality professional learning experiences and a collaborative support network for teachers entering their first through third year in the profession.
This annual program is designed to strengthen and support all new teachers through impactful sessions, engaging activities, and reflective dialogue grounded in high-leverage inclusive practices that promote the success of all learners.
Participants start the school year with confidence after attending a three-day summer academy and hone their practice throughout the year with ongoing support from monthly PLC meetings.

Highlights from Previous Years
What Our Cohorts Have to Say
|
“This has been a truly eye-opening and empowering experience. I feel valued and empowered to seek out help as I need it, but also capable of doing a good job in my classroom.” - 1st year teacher |
“I enjoyed learning that first-year teachers have the same fears and excitement. It was also great to have different genders, grade levels, ethnicities, and ages sharing their thoughts and views in the same room. We all went into teaching to help others (students) succeed.” - 2nd year teacher |
|
As a result of engaging in NTA Day 2’s professional learning sessions and activities, I will… “Work on creating a strong communication system with parents, building relationships with students and families, recognizing biases within myself and identify and recognize how that affects my teaching.” - 1st year teacher
|
“After completing this 3-day academy, I feel more confident in my knowledge on CRST, family engagement, and co-teaching. I am really excited to take everything I learned during the 3-day academy and use it in the classroom this school year.” - 2nd year teacher
