Opportunities to Work Like Scholars (OWLS) is workshop series presented by the College of Education's Diversity in Action (DIA) Committee. OWLS give College faculty the opportunity to showcase their social justice-oriented research and to receive feedback from colleagues and other attendees. OWLS events are open to faculty, staff, students, and any other members of the College of Education community interested in supporting equity- and justice-oriented research.

The project's purpose is to improve retention, instructional quality, and emotional resilience among new and minoritized teachers through a holistic, equity-focused coaching and professional development model. Thus far, the research team is working with seven partner school districts in South Jersey. They are working to build capacity for instructional coaches by co- supporting the new teachers and modeling through our own teaching and coaching processes/ and best practices, and as a result all co-creating and refining an instructional coaching framework for the state. This workshop will offer participants a chance to hear more about Project THRIVE and discuss thorny research issues with the team as they move forward with their work. Cookies and coffee will be available!
