M.A. in School Psychology

The Rowan University School Psychology Specialist program is fully approved by the
National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). 

The School Psychology program is divided into two programs, the Masters of Arts in School Psychology, and the Educational Specialist Degree, each having distinct admissions criteria. Admission to the M.A. program does not guarantee admission to the Ed.S. program.

M.A. in School Psychology: This program endows a background in the theories, major knowledge, and methodological procedures of psychology. A Master's degree in School Psychology is required for admission into the Ed.S. program; however, a School Psychology Master's degree does not certify the candidate for practice as a School Psychologist in public schools. 

Ed.S. in School Psychology: This program is an advanced degree that enables the candidate to develop practitioner expertise in psychological, educational, professional and related areas. Candidates hone skills in assessment, consultation, counseling and intervention to prepare to work with children and adolescents, parents, guardians, teacher and other educational professionals in a school setting. The combination of the MA and EdS program courses satisfies the requirements of the New Jersey Department of Education for the candidate to become a NJ certified School Psychologist .
