The Early Childhood Leadership Institute (ECLI), through Rowan University’s College of Education, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, will begin offering the Preschool Instructional Coach (PIC) Seminar starting with the 2025-2026 school year.

The Preschool Instructional Coach (PIC) Seminar is a six-month intensive fellowship designed for new Preschool Instructional Coaches, in the New Jersey State-Funded Preschool Program. Its primary purpose is to provide professional development training grounded in research and best practices, enabling preschool instructional coaches to enhance the quality of teaching and learning by supporting early childhood practitioners.

The seminar covers essential topics related to instructional coaching, emphasizing reflective practice, professional development, curriculum and assessment implementation, and collaboration with preschool intervention staff, administration, and families.Participants attending and submitting all course requirements of this seminar are eligible for the Early Childhood Professional Development Fellow.

Rowan University, through the Early Childhood Leadership Institute, will provide the Preschool Instructional Coach seminar to state funded Preschool Education Aid (PEA) districts throughout the State.  The Department of Education (DOE), Office of Preschool Education (OPE) will provide support and resources to Rowan University, to ensure content continuity throughout the seminar. OPE retains the rights to all material related to the Preschool Professional Development Fellow (Fellow), approval process and records.
