VETeach Pilot Program
VETeach Pilot Program
VETeach
The VETeach Pilot Program supports and facilitates the teacher certification of veterans. Through a cohort-based model, this program offers resources and significant support for program participants. VETeach helps to increase the number of teachers in New Jersey, while also providing a career path for veterans who experience a high unemployment rate in our state.
A 36-month program, VETeach allows veterans to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education upon completion. Program participants will also receive an endorsement in either English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual Education.
Governor Phil Murphy signed the VETeach legislation in January of 2024. The College of Education at Rowan University is one of only two institutions selected by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) to participate in the VETeach Pilot Program.
Important Information on VETeach:
This program is offered to veterans of the United States Armed Forces who served on or after September 11, 2001. There will be a single cohort of VETeach participants.
The 36-month program will begin in the Fall of 2025.
- Recruitment is now open and will continue through June.
- Orientation will be held in late July/early August.
Student veterans will participate in an Apprenticeship Program, where they will be connected with alumni who are teachers and veterans. The Apprenticeship Program offers VETeach students the opportunity to participate in engaging and enriching field trips such as the NJEA Convention, Education Expo, and more.
