Message from the Executive Director
Welcome to the Office of Educator Support and Partnerships at Rowan University. Housed in the College of Education, this office is responsible for providing support to programs and initiatives related to educator preparation. In an effort to align with the College of Education’s vision, the members from the Office of Educator Support and Partnership are committed to assisting teacher candidates to be reflective practitioners who use education to transform our global society. To do this the office will provide leadership in the following areas:
Office of Clinical Experiences
This office is responsible for the placement of candidates requiring field experiences in a school or clinical setting. In addition, this office helps oversee the certification for all educator preparation.
Professional Development School Network
This network includes administrators and teachers from all the College of Education partner schools, university Professors-in-Residence, university administrators, and teacher candidates involved in Professional Development Schools.
Praxis Lab
This lab is designed to support the Praxis Core examination. The Praxis Core is a requirement for New Jersey Teacher Certification.
Teacher Pipeline Programs and Recruitment
These programs and recruitment efforts are designed to prepare and inspire students to pursue careers in education. Some programs include the Teacher Academies, which are located in various school districts in South Jersey and Rowan Urban Teacher Academy (RUTA).
Project Increasing Male Practitioners and Classroom Teachers (IMPACT)
The mission of Project IMPACT is to increase the representation of males from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds in teaching and respond to persistent opportunity gaps faced by young men from diverse backgrounds.
Teacher Education Advisory Council (TEAC)
This council is the governance body for teacher education, which spans the Colleges of Performing Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Math, and Communication and Creative Arts. Faculty involved in the preparation of teacher candidates from across the university, meet on a regular basis to engage in continuous improvement efforts.
The Educator Preparation Advisory Council (EPAC)
This council consists of P-12 partners, students, and faculty who meet biannually to share information, review candidate performance data and offer recommendations for program and unit improvement.
Through the leadership role in these areas, the Office of Educator Support and Partnerships is dedicated to assisting departments in and outside the College of Education as well as Rowan teacher candidates.
I am thankful to have a team that is devoted to supporting Rowan University leaders and faculty in enhancing teacher preparation. The team is also committed to supporting teacher candidates to be well prepared and improve schooling in a democratic society.
