Biography
Dr. Anna Q. Sun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Administration and Research at Rowan University. She received a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration and an Ed. M. in Comparative and Global Studies in Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY), and a B.A. in Teaching English As A Foreign Language from Tianjin Teachers’ College. She is a former English teacher and administrator in both higher education and K-12 settings. Prior to Rowan, she was leading The Learning Center (TLC) directing programs for special-needs students in a Buffalo college-preparatory high school. Dr. Sun’s ongoing scholarship and research include educational leadership and policies, social justice in schools, school changes and reforms, international development and studies in education, and mixed and qualitative research methodologies. She has participated in several international research projects sponsored by UCEA, BELMAS and the Ford Foundation, on which she has published several journal articles, book, and book chapters. Currently, Dr. Sun is one of the principal investigators of the BELMAS-UCEA International Project of Social Justice Leadership. A recipient of grants from RU seed grant and Mark Diamond Research Fund, and a recipient of Foster-Polite scholarship from AERA, Dr. Sun is an active member and contributor in AERA, UCEA, and CIES. At Rowan, she teaches courses such as Introduction to the Principalship, Instructional Leadership and Supervision, Educational Organizations and Leadership, and Action Research in Education.
