Biography
Karen-Joy Schultz has over 30 years of experience as a teacher, principal, literacy coach, mentor and presenter. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She did her graduate work at Bank Street College of Education earning a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in working with children birth to 5 years of age and their families. She has presented at The National Child Life (ACLP) Conference on Providing Emotional Support to Children and Families Impacted by Illness and Trauma and The New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) Summer Conference on Implementing Writers Workshop in the Inclusive Classroom. She is the recipient of the Haddonfield Lifetime Achievement Award (2003).
In addition to her teaching certifications in general and special education she has her supervisor, principal, and superintendent licenses. She has worked with students of all ages in urban and suburban schools, hospital settings and universities. Professor Schultz is passionate about providing students with access to high quality education and has focused her career on supporting teachers and pre-service teachers to implement best practices in education and to find ways to incorporate inclusive teaching strategies into the classroom to ensure success for all students. In 2022 she became Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Program. She continues to teach courses and supervise clinical interns.
