Biography

Seung Eun (Sunny) McDevitt, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education in the College of Education at Rowan University. Her research focuses on understanding and supporting diverse teachers of color, particularly immigrant women of color and other minoritized teachers, and their inclusive pedagogies in early childhood educational and care settings. She received her doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University with a focus on early childhood education and teacher education. Dr. McDevitt’s work is grounded in the principles of equity and inclusion and is significantly informed by the many years of working with young children, families, and teachers from marginalized immigrant communities in New York City as a teacher, early interventionist, and professional developer. Her work has been supported by grants from the American Educational Research Association (Division G), the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, and the European Educational Research Association. Recent publications include articles in the Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education, Teachers College Record, Multicultural Perspectives, and the International Journal of Inclusive Education.
