Biography

Xiufang Chen, Ph.D., is a Professor of Language and Literacy Education in the College of Education at Rowan University. Her current research interests include literacy teacher education, online literacy instruction and integration of technology, and sociocultural dimensions of literacy instruction. She has published numerous refereed journal articles, books, book chapters and conference presentations at national and international conferences. Some of her projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation, Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation, Christian R & Mary F. Lindback Foundation, NJDOE Reading Acceleration Professional Integrated Development (RAPID) Plus Initiative, and Rowan University’s Innovations in Teaching Using Technology and SEED Grants. Dr. Chen has served in the wider and professional community through leadership, mentoring, journal manuscript and conference proposal reviewing, and other professional activities. At Rowan, she teaches literacy education courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
