Biography
Joseph Divis retired as state president - New Jersey for AT&T in September, 2023. In this role, he led AT&T's legislative, regulatory, public policy, community, and philanthropic initiatives in New Jersey where he worked with elected and appointed officials and business and civic leaders.
Divis spent more than 28 years with AT&T and its predecessor companies. His diverse professional experience spanned the private, public and non-profit sectors. It included legislative work in 16 states and the District of Columbia; corporate communications and media relations assignments; a Congressional press secretary appointment; and working as a newspaper reporter.
Divis continues to serve on the Board of Jobs for Delaware Graduates, is immediate past chair of the Site Board for College Possible Philadelphia and serves on the Advisory Board of the Rowan University College of Education.
Previously, he sat on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Trustees of the Southern New Jersey Development Council, the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey League of Municipalities Educational Foundation, the Board of Trustees of New Jersey Society for Environmental, Economic Development (NJ SEED) and the Corporate Advisory Council of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. Divis also served as co-chair of the Technology Committee of the Gloucester County Economic Recovery Collaborative and participated in the New Jersey Chamber’s ReNew Jersey Business Leadership Roundtable and the Technology & Innovation Industry Leadership Team of the NJ Pathways initiative.
He is the recipient of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey’s Changemakers Award, Jobs for America’s Graduates’ National Above and Beyond Award and College Possible Philadelphia’s Champions for Success Award. Divis was instrumental in the production of the iconic “Convergence” mural on the AT&T Building along Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River. He was recognized by the US Secret Service as part of the multi-industry working group that supported the World Meeting of Families and Philadelphia Papal Visit in 2015.
Divis is a graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
