Serving Education Leaders
RIEL strives to serve the wide-ranging needs of school and district leaders in a variety of settings and formats.
REIL supports leaders through:
- Engagement via symposiums and conferences on various topics that support their work to transform and guide the institutions they lead.
- Working to identify and address issues leaders face that affect the students and staff they serve and support.
- Providing opportunities for intellectual stimulation, inquiry, collegial collaboration and growth.
RIEL Programs
Throughout the year, participants will have the opportunity to attend valuable and resourceful symposiums, workshops and forums featuring distinguished educational leaders, including faculty involved in educational leadership development.
Superintendent Leadership Network
The Superintendent Leadership Network is designed to assist superintendents in the all-encompassing and ever changing role of district (and community) leadership. The Leadership Network is composed of superintendents from member districts across the region. The group meets regularly throughout the school year to focus on topics/strategies presented by various experts in the realm of educational leadership. The Leadership Network also provides superintendents a non-judgmental “brave space” to discuss and explore possibilities and situations. The unbiased group often acts as a peer advisory group for members and helps each member make more effective decisions that can facilitate real and powerful growth.
Additional Membership Benefits
- Special VIP access to small group sessions/meetings with research and policy leaders

Principal Study Council
Great schools cannot exist without great leaders. RIEL’s Principal Study Council is designed to support school principals in the constant and critical work of shaping the future of their schools and communities.
The purpose of the Principal Study Council is to promote the continuous improvement of leaders by providing opportunities that are designed to develop leadership skills through collaborative study and discourse. The Principal Study Council provides an opportunity for leaders to learn, grow, and network together in a non-judgmental and supportive “Brave Space” with a focus on preparing themselves, and their schools, for the opportunities of the future.
Membership Benefits

- Special VIP access to small group sessions/meetings with research and policy leaders

By supporting each other, principals grow in confidence and develop strength. Once empowered, principals can in turn empower others to positively impact the present and the future.
RIEL Summer Academies/Programs
RIEL provides learning opportunities in a summer academy format that supports educators and leaders as they further develop their knowledge base, as well as grow and develop their professional networks. Offerings are geared to the needs that leaders express and are structured in a way that leaders can delve deeper into topics and concepts than they would during the “hectic” daily structure of the school year.
Examples of Offerings (2-3 day certificate programs unless otherwise noted)
- Social Justice Leadership
- Women in Leadership Conference (one-day conference)
- Transformative Leadership
- Leadership Conference for Under-Represented Leaders (one-day conference)
- Strategic Leadership
- Social and Emotional Leadership
- Crisis Management in Education
The Annual Educational Leadership Symposium is the focal point of educational leadership throughout the region. Numerous sessions address and highlight the challenges that leaders encounter and highlight research and strategies regarding said challenges. High profile keynote speakers offer insight and perspective that school and district leaders rarely have access to. The Leadership Symposium also offers leaders a chance to connect in a setting that allows for inquiry and growth for all involved.
Thank you for attending our First Annual Educational Leadership Symposium in February 4, 2022.
