Kenneth Bond
Kenneth Bond graduated from Cairn University with a M.S. in Education (TESOL Concentration). He is currently an ESL/Bilingual Education Program Development Specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education and an Adjunct Professor at Rowan University and Eastern University. Other teaching experiences include working as the ESL Director at Somerdale School District, teaching EFL in a Chinese public school, training hundreds of volunteer teachers across the country, instructing adult ESL refugees, and directing the refugee services program for Sovereign Grace Church in Marlton. His research interests are K-12 ESL curriculum, ESL/Bilingual program structures, refugee students, and SIFE students who are not enrolled in newcomer centers. He lives in Camden County with his wife and two daughters.

Dr. Maryellen McGovern Fitzpatrick
Maryellen Mcgovern Fitzpatrick graduated from Temple University with an Ed.D. in TESOL. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Rowan University, and she serves as a consultant to school districts in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, training hundreds of teachers in the strategies of Sheltered English Instruction for English Language Learners in the content area classrooms. Other teaching experiences include extensive work in face-to-face and asynchronous online writing tutoring, teaching ESL and citizenship to elderly Chinese, Cambodian, and Vietnamese immigrants in the Chinatown section of Philadelphia, and teaching bilingual 7th grade for the City of Camden Public School District. She holds teaching certificates in the State of New Jersey for Bilingual/Bicultural Education (Spanish and English), English as a Second Language, Secondary English, and Elementary Education. Her research interests are the teaching of reading to English language learners who are not able to read in their first language, sheltered instruction of English in the content areas, and teacher education and preparation.

Dr. Gloria J. Garcia
Gloria Garcia graduated from Georgian Court College in Lakewood, NJ with a B.A. in English, and minors in Spanish and Music.¬† She obtained her M.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in ESL from Kean University, Union, NJ, and her doctorate in Language Education from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education, New Brunswick, NJ.¬† She retired from the Perth Amboy Board of Education, where she was the Supervisor of the Bilingual/ESL Program, with its 1850 students and 135 teachers, and from Georgian Court University, where she was the Coordinator of ESL Teacher Education.¬† ¬†She serves as an adjunct professor at Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ, and an ESL consultant with the Educational Information and Resource Center in Mullica Hill, NJ.¬† Her focus is on providing professional development in Sheltered Instruction principles and practices to mainstream content area teachers of English Language Learners.¬† Dr. Garc√≠a is a past president of New Jersey Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages/New Jersey Bilingual Educators, Inc., and served as a chair of both the New Jersey Department of Education'Äôs Bilingual Advisory Committee and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association'Äôs Committee on English Language Learners.¬†¬†

Jacqueline McCafferty
Jacqueline McCafferty earned her Master'Äôs in TESOL from Temple University and is currently an Ed.D. candidate at the University of Pennsylvania in Reading, Writing and Literacy. She is currently the Director of the Intensive English Language Program at Rowan University, which reaches out to the local immigrant population to develop pathways to higher education, and co-coordinator of the ESL COGS. Jackie is an ESL professional with over fifteen years of experience teaching and administrating in various educational settings in the United State, Spain, and Mexico. Her program planning has focused on various aspects of cross-cultural and language education, such as: international education, immigrant education, academic ESL, English for specific purposes, and teacher education. As a program administrator, she has been integrally involved with the development of high school to college bridge programs for English language learners. As an educator, she has taken her expertise to the college classroom through various courses that focus on cultural diversity, second language acquisition, and the integration of language and content. Currently, Jackie is becoming increasingly involved in the field of international education and the development of discipline-specific programs for international students wishing to study in the United States.

Dr. Tamara Sniad
Tamara Sniad is currently an Assistant Professor of TESOL at Temple University and adjunct with Rowan University. In addition to teacher professional development work with a national education non-profit and academic programming in Camden and Philadelphia, Dr. Sniad has taught courses on diversity and equity in education, linguistics, second language acquisition and language teaching methodology. Her current instructional and research focus is on the preparation of K-12 teachers to support English Language Learners in content area classrooms. She earned a BA and MA in linguistics from the University of Florida and PhD in educational linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Beth A. Wassell
Beth A. Wassell is Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education and co-coordinator of the graduate level English as a Second Language Certificate of Graduate Study (ESL COGS) program. She received her Ed.D. in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. (Rowan University) and M.A. (University of Central Florida) in Spanish. Her current research agenda includes a large mixed methods study that explores gender and English Language Learner students in urban science middle school classrooms (funded by the National Science Foundation). She regularly provides professional development on methods for teaching ELL students in content area classroom and also consults with area districts to develop K-12 curriculum in ESL. Prior to coming to Rowan, Dr. Wassell taught Spanish at the elementary and high school levels in Florida and New Jersey and ESL to adults in Philadelphia.
