Biography

Dr. Hoffman’s research focuses on language ideologies; the integration of language and content in instruction in P-16 classrooms and adult education; and the efficacy of teacher education programs, especially for preservice and inservice teachers preparing to (more effectively) teach ELs in general education classrooms. Dr. Hoffman has published in TESOL Quarterly and The International Journal of Multilingualism.  She serves in the Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Education Department as Lecturer and Coordinator of ESL Certificate of Graduate Study and Bilingual/Bicultural Education Programs. When not teaching or conducting research, she serves as co-president of the non-profit Friends of Penn Treaty School (FoPT), coaches her pet bunny in parkour, spends time outdoors camping and gardening, and hangs out with her 15 nieces and nephews.
