Biography

Previously taught Art Education at the elementary level for 35 years. Has been with Rowan University since 2008 in the Department of Art and recently became part of the Department of STEAM.

Currently the Program Coordinator for Art Education.

My research interest focuses on understanding, exploring, and providing insight into the interventions used in conventional school districts where art education is not employed as well as those districts that do utilize the visual arts as interventions for bullies, victims, and bystanders. I also examine the differences and similarities between the two disciplines, art education, and art therapy and have explored the role of each.

Currently authoring Creative Lessons for Anti-Bullying Using the Visual Arts. This book encompasses lessons for art teachers, and adaptable for classroom teachers, to use as anti-bullying activities for K-8 students. This will act as a guide providing lessons to make students aware of bullying and the hurt it produces and helps develop empathy in students.
