Biography

Dr. James McCall received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973.  He completed his Master’s Degree from Glassboro State College and Doctorate Degree in Physical Education, with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology, from Temple University.  Dr. McCall has demonstrated a longtime passion for teaching and advocating for the skills that lead to a healthy active life.  Thirty years of public school teaching was followed by six years as the Coordinator of Health and Physical Education for the New Jersey Department of Education.  As a teacher and state coordinator, Jim provided leadership for standards – based reform in New Jersey schools. Dr. McCall was also a member of the NJAHPERD Executive Board for 30 years.  Dr. McCall is currently an Assistant Professor in the STEAM Department at Rowan University.  He is engaged in a variety of research, special collaborative projects, and professional development initiatives as well as teaching and training future professionals in the Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification Program.
